Village of Dryden is now tobacco free on all of its property, except in designated areas. This means that the ball fields, Montgomery Park, Time Square, the Jim Schug trail and the area around Village Hall are all tobacco free areas. This is per Local Law 2017-2, which was passed at the November 16, 2017 Village Board Meeting. Thank you Willilam George Agency students who invested a great deal of effort into this cause, including making a video about the advantages of being smoke free at Montgomery Park and presenting a poster and comments to the Dryden Village Board. We also thank the Tobacco Free Zone of Cortland, Tompkins and Chenango for their appeal to the Dryden Village Board. 9/20/17

It is with great sadness that I share the passing of Brian Newhouse. Brian enthusiastically served as a captain during the playground build. His love for his family, and his commitment to his work at the Dryden Fire Department and Whitmore Fence Co. were obvious. We are so thankful to have known Brian. Services will be held in Fort Meyers, Florida and memorial contributions may be made in Brian's name to the Dryden Fire Department, PO Box 397, Dryden NY 13053. -Mary 12/10/16

We made magnificent strides today! Thanks to the manpower of many volunteers all the mulch was spread, the fire pole raised, three slides and mushroom hoppers installed. Dormers were added to the tall roofs, a cupola capped the barn, the tractor took shape and pickets were placed in the fence. We are looking forward to ribbon cutting on Monday 10/10 at 5:30pm but could especially use volunteers the evening of Sunday 10/09. 10/6/16

Why does the Town of Dryden need a playground project?
If you look around the Town of Dryden, you will see there is a lack of playgrounds focused on younger children. Only one playground exists in the Village of Dryden, at the Dryden Elementary School, and it is not available to younger children during the day when school is in session.
Through the support of volunteers in the greater Dryden community, we hope to provide a place at Montgomery Park in the Village of Dryden for children across the Town of Dryden to engage in educational exercise and creative play. Building a new safe and attractive play space will also encourage interaction among community members of all ages.
Montgomery Park is an important asset to the community and its revitalization will potentially draw more people into the community and into the surrounding downtown businesses.
